Kyoshi Mark Sheeley Kensho-Ryu Founder Featuring Nick Cerio's Kenpo Karate
- Kyoshi Sheeley began studying the martial arts at age
twelve under Paul T. Cho in the art of Tae Kwon Do, where he earned his black belt.
- While serving in the U.S. military, Kyoshi Sheeley studied boxing for four years. He gained
greater proficiency, speed, and power with his hands which later served him in his studies of Kenpo.
- After completing his term of service in the military, Kyoshi Sheeley began his studies in
American Kenpo Karate under T. and S. Sullivan.
- Starting in 1987, Kyoshi Sheeley studied under Professor Nick Cerio until Professor Cerio's
death in 1998. During this time he won numerous competitions in open hand weapons forms.
- Due to a combination of natural ability and tenacity, Kyoshi Sheeley became one of Professor
Cerio's top students, to whom Professor Cerio entrusted the most knowledge of Nick Cerio's Kenpo Karate.
- Kyoshi Sheeley was nationally rated in competition for three years in a row and was the first
Kenpo stylist to go to #1 ranking in sports competition.
- Kyoshi Sheeley has been inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame nine times.
- Nine national champions have trained under Kyoshi Sheeley.
- Due to his work with the Rhode Island community, Kyoshi Sheeley was the recipient of 2 state
citations, one in1991 and the second in 1992.
- Kyoshi Sheeley personally trains over seventy black belt students.
- In order to expand his knowledge of the martial arts, Kyoshi Sheeley currently studies Shotokan
Karate under Sensei Wayne Mellow.
- Kyoshi Sheeley has worked with, and exchanged knowledge with, such martial artists as Hanshi
Bruce Juchnik, Sijo Glenn Hart, Sifu Bruce Corrigan, Kyoshi Mike Burton and Kyoshi Clermont Poulin.
- Kyoshi Sheeley is currently the director of 14 schools. Most of these schools are located
in the New England area. There is also a school located in Daytona Beach, Florida.
- In addition to expanding his skills and knowledge in Kenpo and Shotokan, Kyoshi Sheeley frequently
runs seminars detailing the finer aspects of the martial arts.
