Shihan James O'Brien (Above - on Left)

The Chief Instructor, Shihan Jim O’Brien, in 2011 marked his 27th year in Japanese martial arts. In 1984 Jim began studying karate with Sensei Larry and Tom Sullivan.  Shihan O’Brien currently holds Godan Rank or 5th degree Black Belt in American Kenpo Jiu-Jitsu as well as Kensho-Ryu Kenpo Karate which ranks him as master in this system.  This rank was earned through his current instructor, Grandmaster Mark Sheeley (9th degree).  His first Black Belt in the Kensho-Ryu system was earned on October 2, 1999 while also earning the title of Sensei. In order to earn his title, he was also required to complete a one year training program which emphasized “how to teach a traditional system” to adults and children with new or advanced training methods without losing the tradition and customs of the Art.

Shihan Jim has also served with The United States Marine Corps Reserve from October 1997 to April 2005.

Sensei Craig Duquette (Above - on Right)

Sensei Craig earned his Shodan or 1st degree black belt in 2005 while training under Shihan Carlos Miranda.  In 2010, he earned his Sandan or 3rd degree black belt.

Shihan Jim and Sensei Craig continue to train under Grandmaster Mark Sheeley.
